As COVID-19 continues to surge across the country, stationary labs cannot keep up with traditional forms of testing; thus, limiting the access and availability for many people in need. ERL is bridging the gap to support the demand for COVID-19 testing by providing mobile point of care testing.

Rapid vs. PCR Testing
Evidence-based research supports the use of the Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 rapid antigen tests and the Mesa Biotech Inc Accula SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests.
Although rapid tests are practical, if a patient’s viral load is too low, it may not be recognized, resulting in a false negative. Therefore, PCR testing is considered the “gold standard” test due to its higher sensitivity of greater than 98% for detecting positive results.
ERL conducts PCR testing as a confirmatory test for all BinaxNOW positive samples and any symptomatic patients with rapid negative results unless otherwise requested by the patient or operation.
PCR testing can detect lower viral loads than rapid antigen testing. Thus, the Accula SARS-CoV-2 Test is ideal for identifying more positive cases by providing timely and reliable results.
