Rapid Extraction Module Support (REMS) Teams

No man left behind.

No Mountain Too High, No Road Too Rugged

The Emergency Response Logistics Rapid Extraction Module or "REMS" team, provides firefighters, responders, and victims, who are unable to egress under their own power, a safe and secure rescue and transport platform to support their efforts.

We will get you out safely when there is no time to waste

While our REMS Teams do not intend to replace ground or air transport, ideal conditions may not exist due to a number of circumstances such as heavy smoke inversion, no roads, or equipment malfunctions.

REMS provides incident managers another option to reach incapacitated and injured crew members and victims.

Our REMS Teams are fully equipped resources, prepared to package and transport injured or ill personnel out of austere environments to the appropriate medical care unit. Traditional REMS Teams are made up of four individuals but can be as small as two personnel depending on the incident request.

Our REMS Teams are made up of all medically and rescue trained personnel and have the following capabilities:

  • Wilderness technical rescue
  • ALS staffed and equipped
  • Vehicle access and minor extrication
  • Helicopter rescue
  • UTV evacuation
  • Search & Rescue
  • Long evacuation care

Joining our REMS Team

To join our team eligible candidates must:

  1. Be currently qualified as a Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (RT-130 & WCT certificates)
  2. Have a current State EMS License (NREMT certification is also highly encouraged)
  3. Complete the associated Candidate Application process
  4. Complete a rigorous 2 week assessment & selection training program where the candidates will receive the necessary training and certifications to be a full team member (Initial Selection year only)
  5. Attend an annual skills evaluation and pre-season training session

Wages for our REMS members are very competitive!

The 2022 fire season will boast deployment opportunities for three separate REMS Teams!
